Sharjah authorities have reported a tragic incident where five individuals lost their lives due to suffocation from smoke, while 17 others sustained moderate injuries and 27 suffered minor injuries following a fire outbreak at a high-rise residential building in Al Nahda around 9:30 pm on Thursday night.

Police confirmed that urgent medical care was provided to the 17 individuals with moderate injuries. Additionally, the authorities disclosed that 156 residents, including 18 children, have been provided with shelter following the incident.

Upon receiving a distress call at 10:50 pm, emergency response teams swiftly deployed to the neighborhood, evacuating residents to safety while firefighters battled to extinguish the flames.

The towering structure, comprising 39 floors with a total of 750 apartments, witnessed the devastating fire, prompting authorities to extend their deepest condolences to the families of the victims. They also expressed hopes for a swift recovery for those injured in the tragic incident.
